Reason for Our Rating

Mixpanel is for teams taking the next step in analytics, especially behavioral analytics. It is helping teams know if “X or Y triggered Z to happen” without having intense data analytics background. Their team has done a great job in allowing users to quickly create reports and visually digest the data on complicated funnels.

While Mixpanel has an eCommerce offering, we find that its best customer to be SaaS companies and similar markets. But if your team cares deeply about microinteractions with your eCommerce site and experience then Mixpanel deserves a look.

The Good

Easy as ABC Mixpanel offers a top-tier A/B test for campaigns that can dig deep into funnel differences (events, web traffic, goals, etc.).

Know Your Users Allows the creation of user behavior funnels that can pinpoint areas in a user process to take action on to further increase funnel conversions.

Impressive Manipulation The dashboard allows you to filter, aggregate, and then visualize your data at both high-level and granular views.

The Bad

Price Spikes Mixpanel means monitoring the funds. There are several tiers of pricing, and your bill fluctuates depending on the events and used features.

Setting Aside Time Mixpanel calls for one of the greater upfront investments to learn a new tool. A casual user is going to need time to receive full value.

Making Too Much Noise Their correlation feature, “Signals”, has been labeled as providing more noise than insights for eCommerce teams.
